Dog Bowls

Dog bowls are relatively inexpensive, widely available in pet stores, and are available in different sizes, designs, and volume capacities. They are commonly manufactured from plastic, ceramics, and stainless steel, and are generally intended for home use by pet owners. Although there are Australia dog bowls intended for travel, made from generally lightweight and waterproof fabrics that are easy to carry and disposable, all types of dog bowls are equipped with rubber rings or floor supports that prevents the scuffing and scratching of floors and prevents slipping across a floor when used by dogs.

The most readily available dog bowls are those that are made from plastic, these plastic dog bowls are very inexpensive, available everywhere, and are very durable. Plastic dog bowls do not easily chip or break when accidentally dropped or played around by dogs. The disadvantage of dog bowls that are made from very cheap plastics can easily leach harmful or poisonous substances into the food and water of dogs and possibly become a detriment to a dog's overall health. Unless replaced regularly, plastic Australia dog bowls should only be used temporarily such as when traveling to reduce the possibility of long-term health problems in dogs due to plastic chemical leaching.

Another dog bowl that is commonly available in all pet stores is the elevated dog bowls. These dog bowls are particularly helpful in senior dogs since they do not unnecessarily stoop when eating their food or drinking water. Elevated dog bowls are placed in a wooden or plastic stand that allows dogs to easily eat their food or drink their water without undue stress to their backs or necks by stooping to floor level to reach their dog bowl. Elevated dog bowls are considered as very sanitary for dogs since their food is raised off the floor and avoids dirt contamination and the possibility of insects contaminating their food or water.

There is also another type of Australia dog bowls that are commonly and inexpensively available in pet stores and these are the ceramic dog bowls. Ceramic dog bowls are also available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors to suit every pet owner. Ceramic material is a stable and inert material and is considered safe by pet experts as feeding and drinking bowls for all kinds of pets. The main disadvantage of ceramic dog bowls is that it is very easy to chip or crack when accidentally dropped or toyed around by dogs. If not looked after correctly, a chipped ceramic dog bowl may have an unnoticed chip that may accidentally get ingested by dogs when they are feeding. Cracks in ceramic dog bowls may also harbor harmful bacteria and viruses that may be detrimental or hazardous to the general health of dogs.

Stainless steel dog bowls are also another type of dog bowl commonly available in pet stores and are the material that is considered the safest by dog owners and pet experts alike. Stainless steel is an inert, stable, and very sterile material that is widely recognized at the best and healthiest dog bowl to use for food and water. Stainless steel dog bowls may dent easily when dropped but they do not chip or crack and are considered virtually indestructible. Stainless steel dog bowls are very easy to clean requiring only very minimal scrubbing and mild detergents to clean and sanitize. Overall, a dog bowl that is made from stainless steel is the most ideal dog bowl to use to maintain the overall long-term health of dogs.
