Cute & Cool Tips for Choosing Cat Beds

Does you cute and cuddly cat have a bed at home? Well, if they don't have one yet, I guess it's time you get one! However, choosing a cat bed can be quite a hurdle, because while you want your cat or cats to be cozy, warm and happy while they're sleeping, you also want their bed to be a space that they can call their own. Here are a couple of cute and cool tips for choosing cat beds.

What are the Types of Cat Beds Sold Today

Because our cute and cuddly feline friends love to curl and sleep wherever they can, there are a wide assortment of cat beds available in the market today. And while there's no “the best cat bed”, the truth is that you can actually choose one that would suit your cat's daily habits and preferences.

For starters, there are pads and cushions that are filled with soft and comfortable down. Some pads and cushions are filled with fleece or high-fiber polyester. But, as long as the pads or cushions are plush and comfortable, it doesn't really matter what you buy!

Pods are also gaining popularity among cat bed buyers today, as they seem to like curling up in these egg-shaped pods that are either made of plastic or hard fabric, and are lined with something that's soft and cozy.

Material & Heating

When shopping for beds for your cat,  take note of its material, because if your cat is allergic to certain materials, then make sure you do not get something that flares up their allergies. Choose a material that your cat is comfortable with and would like to snuggle in, like faux fur and fleece.

And, if you live in a cold climate where the winters can get freezing, consider getting a heated bed for your cat. This should make their snuggle hours more warm and comfortable. This would also be very helpful for older cats, especially those who have stiff joints, or have thin or no fur.

Durability & Cleanliness

When shopping for cat beds, pet care experts say that the best feline beds are those that are durable and can withstand a great amount of scratching and biting. If you're buying furniture-style beds, make sure the structure is sturdy and not likely to collapse.

Also invest in pet beds that are easy to clean, as you certainly don't want to be replacing a bed too often. Most beds for cats are machine washable, and some have fabrics that you can either replace or remove to wash. You may also want to choose a material that does not trap pet hair, so that you can easily remove them.

Placement & Style

When shopping for cat bed,  placement should be a major consideration, because where does your cat like to sleep? This will help determine which bed is suited for your cat. For example, if the cat likes to sleep with a view, then placing it on the window (or in some other elevated place) would be a cool option.

Also choose pet beds that match the décor of your house, as you don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb. Get a bed that will likely be a major part of the house. Finally, when buying beds for your cats, simply follow your cat's preferences and you'll surely get one that it will love!
